These how-to pages are a free service to allow almost anyone to post automotive information. The pages are provided as-is and as-available. We aren't responsible for what people post (and we don't screen or review it), so you agree not to hold us responsible for other users' actions or inactions (including things they post and the contents of how-tos). Please be advised that nothing found here has necessarily been reviewed by professionals with the expertise required to provide you with complete, accurate or reliable information. In other words, use the material in these how-to pages at your own risk.

Only post information and pictures that you have a right to post. For instance, most information you may come across on the internet and elsewhere is copyrighted. If you believe copyrighted material has been posted, you can also contact us at mailto:abuse@globalvicinity.com»].

If you contribute to the how-to pages, you are publishing the content you post publicly. You allow us to use your content for practically any purpose (see the next paragraph), and the content you provide us will be made available to the public under the "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License". http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/»]. If you write something, assume that it will be retained forever.

When you give us content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise the copyright, publicity, and database rights (but no other rights) you have in the content, in any media known now or in the future. (We need these rights to host and display your content, and to make it available under the creative commons license.)

We try to maintain a positive automotive how-to community. Therefore, you agree to comply with the following list of community standards:
  • No vandalism -- don't intentionally compromise the integrity or accuracy of a how-to page
  • Don't harass or threaten another user
  • Only post information related to automotive how-tos. These pages are not a soapbox, a newspaper, a free host, a webspace provider, a series of vanity articles, a memorial collection, etc.
  • No offensive content -- such as profanity, vulgarity, hate speech, obscene/pornographic/adult material.
  • No advertising merchandise, auctions, services or commercial Web sites, including offers to trade, "wanted" posts, or charitable solicitations.
  • No illegal or controlled content
  • No Copyrighted content that you don't have permission to post as described in this user agreement
  • Be accurate -- people invest a lot of time and money in their cars, and rely on the cars for their safety. Don't post inaccurate, misleading, unsafe, or deceptive information
  • Don't disrupt or interfere with our service, also don't place a disproportionately large load on our system (as determined by us).
  • No active content such as JavaScript.
  • No viruses, trojan horses, etc.
  • Don't attempt to circumvent our security measures or monitoring processes.
  • In general, be ethical!

We don't pre-screen content, but if we happen to notice content that doesn't meet our community standards (as listed above), we can deal with it as we see fit. We aren't obligated to respond, but we will try to resolve all reported abuse of community standards.

We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor activity on the site and take actions we feel are appropriate.

We are entitled to unrestricted use of your suggestions for improvements, for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation.

We may amend this agreement at any time by posting the amended terms on the our site. Except as stated elsewhere, all amended terms are effective 30 days after they are initially posted on our site. Additionally, we will notify you through the contact email address associated with your account.
