Then, fill in the title field and submit:

You will be taken to your member page, where you can access your how-tos, including the new one you just started, listed under "how-tos in progress". Click the new how-to to begin editing:

You can return to your member page to customize it or access your how-tos at any time by clicking your name in the upper-right corner of this web page when you log in.

Editing a How-To

To edit a how-to, click here:

You'll see this screen:

You can start typing in the text area to add or change content. There are a few tricks you can use to make your submissions look better. For example, any text enclosed between pairs of two asterisks will be bold. There are other tricks you can use for formatting and creating links -- just click on the "Quick Reference Pop-Up" link to see them all.

If you want to add an image to your how-to, browse for the image file to upload:

Then, choose a name to refer to the image here:

Finally, upload the image by clicking "Upload New Image":

Now, look at the bottom of your screen. You'll see your image next to a button that says "insert tag".
image
If you click the "insert tag" button, the proper code to insert that image is placed in the editing area (either where the cursor is, or if the cursor is inactive, at the very end); our system will replace that code with the image you uploaded. This is also where you can tweak your image; for more, check out [ Using the ImageTuner].

To submit your changes, first click "preview editing":

You'll see your changes. If you don't like what you see, you can click "continue editing this how-to" to return to the editing screen:
image

Or, if you're happy with your changes, just click "submit changes" to save your work:

Note: Page editing follows this process: edit -> preview editing -> submit changes. Your work isn't saved until you click "submit changes" after previewing.

Once you're ready to spring your how-to on the world, click "submit for approval":

When a community admin approves your new how-to, it will be live, searchable, and ready for you to link to from your forum.
